# Connect to FX5U

Mitsubishi Electric's FX5U stands out as a high-performance, compact Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), constituting an integral part of the Mitsubishi FX series PLCs. It caters efficiently to a wide range of small to medium-scale automation applications, making it a versatile asset in diverse industrial sectors.

This section introduces how to connect the FX5U using the Neuron Mitsubishi 3E plugin.

## Configure FX5U

1. Open the GX Works3 PLC programming software and create a new project. **Series** Select **FX5CPU**, **Type** Select **FX5U**, Click **OK**.

2. Click **Connection Destination** -> **Connection**, Set **Adapter** and **IP Address of Adapter**, Click **OK**.

3. Click on the menu **Online** -> **Read frome PLC** -> **Select All** -> **Execute**.

4. Click **Navigation** -> **Parameter** -> **FX5UCPU** -> **Module Parameter** -> **Ethernet Port**, Check and confirm **IP Address**, Click **External Device Configuration**.

5. Drag **Ethernet Device(General)** -> **SLMP Connection Module** to list, **Protocol** select **TCP** and set **Port No.**, Click **Close with Reflecting the Setting**.

6. Click on the menu **Online** -> **Write to PLC** -> **Execute**.

## Configure Neuron

1. In Neuron, add a Mitsubishi 3E device under **Configuration** -> **South Devices**. 

2. Change the **PLC IP Address** to the target device IP address in the device configuration.

3. Modify **PLC Port** as the target device port in the device configuration and submit the setup form.

4. Add **Group**, add test **tag**.

## Connecting the FX5U in UDP Mode
1. Set the UDP protocol in the PLC, **Protocol** select UDP, **Port No.** fill in the PLC listening port, and **IP Address** fill in the IP address of the host where the Neuron is running.

2. Configure the Neuron UDP transport mode, **Transport Mode** select UDP, and use the default port number 52001 for the UDP source port.
