Delete Root User Account
This document walks you through the steps to permanently delete the root user account from the EMQX Platform.
Prerequisites
Before you delete your root user account, you must ensure that you have no:
- All deployments under your account have been deleted.
- There are no outstanding bills or unbilled charges.
Delete All Deployments
If you have several projects, make sure that all deployments under each project are deleted.
To delete a deployment:
- Go to the Deployment Overview page in the Console.
- Click the Settings button in the top right corner.
- At the bottom of the Settings page, click Delete Deployment.
- Enter the deployment name. Click Confirm to permanently delete the deployment.


Settle All Billing Obligations
To proceed with your account deletion, you must ensure all billing obligations have been met.
To verify and settle your billing status:
- In the Console, click Billing from the left menu to open the Billing page.
- Ensure the following:
- No Overdue Monthly Bills: All previously generated bills are paid in full. You can check the status on the Monthly Bills page.
- Zero Unbilled Charges: The current billing cycle must show $0.00 in unbilled charges.

Delete EMQX Platform Root User Account
Important
Once deleted, your root user account cannot be recovered.
You will also not be able to reuse the same email address to register a new account.
- Go to the Console and click Settings from the left menu.
- Navigate to the Security tab and click Profile.
- Scroll to the Delete Account section and click the Delete button.
- Follow the on-screen prompts:
- Acknowledge the consequences of account deletion.
- Click Next.
- If any prerequisites are not met, you will be prompted to complete them before proceeding.
- (Optional) Provide feedback on your reason for leaving.
- Enter the email address and click Confirm and Delete to finalize the process.
