EMQX Broker
EMQX Broker is the core of EMQX Cloud, a fully managed IoT messaging middleware product designed to connect millions of devices, stream IoT data in real time, and integrate with downstream systems securely and efficiently.
As the world’s first fully managed MQTT 5.0 messaging cloud service, EMQX Broker offers enterprise-grade reliability, scalability, and flexibility for building IoT, IIoT, and connected application systems.
Within EMQX Cloud, EMQX Broker works seamlessly with EMQX Tables, a cloud-native time-series data storage service that enables you to persist, query, and analyze IoT data.
Together, they form a unified “Connect -> Process -> Store -> Analyze” architecture, powering the full lifecycle of IoT data in one platform.
Key Features
With the infrastructure provided by global cloud providers, EMQX Broker serves dozens of countries and regions around the world, providing low-cost, secure, and reliable cloud services for 5G and Internet of Everything applications.
EMQX Broker provides various solutions tailored to different business needs, and there are three primary models available:
Two-Way Communication
EMQX Broker supports massive devices and application-side connectivity, providing secure and reliable two-way communication for applications and IoT devices:

Use Case: Smart Home
This model is suitable for IoT applications with instant communication requirements, such as the smart home scenario, where the cell phone app gets the status information of smart devices. Users can send control commands to smart devices through the app.
Data Collecting and Processing
EMQX Broker supports device data on the cloud. With the support of massive topics and data integration, data collection, filtering, transformation, calculation, and persistence can be achieved with low code.

Use Case: Smart Industry
This model is an excellent fit for IoT applications where reliable data collection and persistence are essential. For example, in Smart Industry scenarios, IoT sensors generate real-time data, which is collected by the edge gateway and sent to EMQX Broker. The Rule Engine filters and processes messages before persisting structured results in a database or forwarding them to other services.
EMQX Broker offers flexible access solutions for different network conditions, industries, and edge devices, supporting over 70 industrial protocols to provide efficient data management and reliable analysis.
Hybrid Model
EMQX Broker supports hybrid IoT data pipelines that combine two-way communication, data collection, and persistent storage. Through capabilities such as shared subscriptions and data integrations, data is persisted while flowing from object to object and from object to application.

Use Case: Connected Vehicles
Vehicle terminals continuously collect data and publish it to the cloud. Cloud-side computing models process the data in real time and immediately send results or feedback to the vehicle or an intelligent mobile app. Users can also send commands to the vehicle directly through the app.
At the same time, a copy of the data can be persisted to a database, enabling additional connected vehicle services and long-term analytics.
Product Plans
EMQX Broker provides three flexible deployment plans within EMQX Cloud, each tailored for different operational scales and compliance needs.
For detailed feature descriptions and pricing of each product plan, see Product Plans.

Note
The Dedicated Flex plan replaces the previous Dedicated plan.
- If you have existing Dedicated deployments, you will continue to see both Dedicated and Dedicated Flex plans when creating a new deployment.
- If you have no existing Dedicated deployments, only Dedicated Flex will be available.
Product Advantages
The EMQX Broker offers the following benefits:
Comprehensive MQTT and Protocol Support
EMQX Broker supports MQTT v3.1, v3.1.1, and v5.0, MQTT over WebSocket, and protocols such as MQTT-SN, CoAP, and LwM2M. It offers full QoS levels (0/1/2), retained messages, and shared subscriptions, making it suitable for all IoT, IIoT, and real-time applications.
Fast Deployment, Fully Managed
EMQX Broker allows you to easily create a fully managed MQTT cloud service within minutes. By registering and logging in and selecting your preferred deployment area, you can instantly access your service without the hassle of traditional operational setups. Our global service support team and EMQ experts will provide 24/7 uninterrupted technical support and operation services throughout the entire use cycle of the EMQX Broker. You can contact us anytime via tickets, emails, or phone calls for a quick response.
Flexible Billing and Scalability for Effective Cost Control
EMQX Broker offers flexible billing methods to provide effective cost control. For businesses with low throughput and concurrency, a pay-as-you-go Serverless deployment is available, which only charges for actual resource usage. As your business scales, a proprietary deployment option is available, which charges according to cluster instance and message traffic, ensuring clear and controllable costs. Additionally, deployment capacity can be automatically estimated by connection and message throughput, and scalable plans can be made through close monitoring to smoothly adjust the cluster size with business growth.
High Availability and Data Security
EMQX Dedicated Flex and BYOC Plan utilize a high-redundancy cluster architecture to ensure high service availability. It also provides a unique isolation environment that guarantees the security of your data and the stability of your business. Each deployment cluster has its own public IP address, dedicated VPC network, independent EMQX servers, and database servers, making it highly secure and reliable.
Flexible Data Integration Solutions
EMQX Dedicated Flex and BYOC Plan support real-time pre-processing of device events and message data. These events and data can be stored in over 40 cloud services and enterprise systems such as MySQL, Kafka, and InfluxDB, all hosted on the cloud.
With EMQX Tables, processed data can now be stored and queried directly within EMQX Cloud, no external database required. This simplifies architecture, improves performance, and reduces operational costs.
